TikTok has published a Content Trends Report, showcasing key topics which saw a significant increase in interest in the past 12 months.
The What’s Next Report highlights some of the fastest growing content categories on the platform.
For brands, understanding which topics are becoming more important to audiences is invaluable. Not only does it provide insight into when and where new trends might arise, but it also allows them stay connected with consumers and play a meaningful role in their lives.
The report tells by how much the topic has grown, as well as key hashtags attached to it – plus the reasons behind said growth, and tips for marketers to use this information.
For example, in Japan, the popularity of anime (over 15 billion views) gives businesses an opportunity to engage the audience base with short-form anime ads.
TikTok identified the fastest growing content categories in the past year, as well as the biggest hashtags – giving the resulting report.
The unprecedented events of 2020 can be visibly seen to have had an influence on the report, with categories such as Cooking getting a huge boost.
TikTok also state that there were regional nuances, and differences in trends across countries.
As such, they have compiled separate reports for 19 regions, allowing specific marketing insights for different countries.
Some of these places include:
- United States and Canada
- United Kingdom
The Content Trends Report should help inspire businesses and influencers on TikTok to craft on-topic and engaging content in the upcoming months of 2021.
